Crowdfunder appeal to provide meals for Liverpool’s most vulnerable
Filling the Gap is a project that provides fresh, nutritious meals for isolated and vulnerable people in Liverpool and is looking to extend the service during the coronavirus lockdown
Four community organisations in Liverpool have come together to provide freshly cooked meals for the city’s most vulnerable people during the coronavirus lockdown and are appealing for donations.
Filling the Gap is a project, already established to help those in need, and has identified there are people in communities across Liverpool who have been left in isolation by the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The organisations include three community interest companies – Our House – Walton Community Hub CIC, New Beginnings Improving Lives CIC and Homecooked CIC – as well as the Rhys Jones Community Centre.
John Collins, one of those running Our House – Walton Community Hub, said: “Filling the Gap aims to provide short-term emergency support with fresh, nutritious healthy food during the crisis. Our aim is to relieve the tremendous pressure faced by those who previously relied on a similar service. We also want to extend this to those who may be vulnerable, housebound or at risk of contracting COVID-19.
“Right now, we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. While there’s a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.”
They have set up a crowdfunder page to collect donations and you can make a contribution by clicking here.
