Delifonseca Dockside now stocks an even wider range of the prestigious and suitability titled Fonseca Port.

The widening of the range comes after a visit and training session from David Fonseca Guimaraens. David is a fourth generation Port winemaker and now the head winemaker of the whole Fladgate Partnership – who own the Taylor Croft and Fonseca Port houses.

During David’s visit, he shared his wealth of knowledge surrounding the art of Port making amongst the Delifonseca team. Staff members were treated to a training and delicious tasting session finishing with a rare vintage Port, whereby they learnt about the differences in flavour, product and consumption. They now share David’s mission to get the younger generation into drinking Port – it is not just for the grandparents but a fantastic drink that isn’t just restricted to a Christmas tipple or with Stilton.

“We were very grateful of David’s visit, as he helped us to expand on our wine expertise. As a highly renowned winemaker specialising in Port and a fabulous raconteur, it was a bit of a coup to have him visit. His family history is emblematic of the close bond between the Britain and Portugal that has shaped the Port trade over centuries.

“Although not related, my family has always enjoyed drinking Fonseca port over the years – sort of nod to my father’s homeland. So to enjoy the tutelage of someone as sought after as David has inspired the staff and prompted us to increase our range. Fonseca Port is recognised as some of the finest on the market with impeccable heritage and the name also fits with our brand perfectly!”

With Christmas just around the corner, Delifonseca’s Port sales have seen a steady increase – likewise other popular yuletide purchases include the deli’s bespoke hampers, unique artisan gifts and Christmas dinner pre-orders.
