Delifonseca set to ‘push the boat out’

To mark the arrival of The Three Queens, Delifonseca has unveiled its appropriately themed culinary offerings.

Gracing Dockside’s infamous ‘Blackboard’ will be the quintessentially British ‘Queen of Puddings’ but with a patriotic twist.

Served throughout May 24-26, the exclusive dessert will pay homage to the first class occasion, which will see the famous Cunard liners Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria berth at the Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal.

Proprietor Candice Fonseca said:

“To celebrate the highly anticipated arrival of The Three Queens, it seemed fitting to revive the old classic which is seldom enjoyed nowadays. It’s a delicious dessert which consists of an egg yolk custard enrighted with breadcrumbs, topped with raspberry and vanilla jam and then crowned with meringue peaks, which we’ve made in patriotic red, white and blue just for this weekend.

“The city is set to enjoy a spectacular weekend. Record crowds are expected and once again Liverpool celebrates its history by hosting yet another unique event.”

In addition to its Three Queens inspired dessert, Delifonseca is also set to cater for the Three Queens Ball, due to take place at the Exchange Station on Friday May 22. In conjunction with House of Suarez, the event will be in celebration of the city’s LGBT community.

Those attending the ball will enjoy a special three course feast with dishes including a shared starter platter with a trio theme; Roasted Goosnargh Chicken Thighs with Clementine and Arak served with Seeded Cous Cous and Caramelised Fennel; Gormeh Sabzi – Persian Herb Stew with Roasted Aubergine, Mushroom, Black-Eyed Peas and Lime served with Seeded Cous Cous, finished quite aplty with a Rosewater & Pistachio Queen of Puddings.

Candice added: “The Three Queens Ball is set to be a huge event for the LGBT community from across the North West and further afield. By catering for such a prominent event, we hope to showcase our culinary expertise on a mass scale, while also showing our support for the development of Stanley St Quarter.”

The Red, White and Blue ‘Queen of Puddings’ is available at Delifonseca Dockside, Brunswick Quay between May 24-26 and is priced at £5.95.
