Four-phase multi-million pound project has seen the creation of 61 apartments and seven commercial units in a former office building. Tony McDonough reports
Developer Nicholson Group has completed the final phase of a four-phase multi-million pound residential scheme in St Helens town centre.
It took on a former office building on the corner of Claughton Street and Barrow Street in the town and has now created a development comprising 61 apartments and seven commercial units.
The final piece of the jigsaw, Nicholson Place, comprises 16 apartments and one commercial unit. Across the whole scheme, 46 of the homes are now occupied with tenants occupying six of the business units. The other three elements are Nicholson Lofts, Nicholson House and Nicholson Plaza.
Nicholson Group was founded by by Merseyside property entrepreneur Paul Nicholson. He said that, in spite of the challenges of COVID-19, demand for the final element of the regeneration plan – Nicholson Place – has remained “buoyant”.
He added: “Nicholson Place is 16 high-end city living apartments all of which were reserved off plan. It’s very much in line with our attention to detail on interiors, bespoke to us.
“In addition, we’ve incorporated state of the art fingerprint technology and eg, wi-fi heaters that represents pioneering technology not currently implemented in any other rental properties in the UK.
“It really is a testament to our team to have completed the project given all the constraints of lockdown, yet we managed to do so in a safe and controlled environment within deadline.”
