Liverpool-based property firm is looking to take on new staff as it looks to grow with projects in Liverpool and across the UK. Tony McDonough reports

Liverpool developer Downing is continuing its expansion with new projects within and outside the city and is looking to hire more staff.

Based in Liverpool city centre, Downing currently manages more than 7,000 student bedrooms across its purpose-built UK property portfolio with plans to grow the portfolio over the next couple of years.

The company, founded by George Downing, is also continuing the refurbishment of its flagship Liverpool office scheme, No 1 Old Hall Street. Downing has refurbished the top floor of the building offering suites from 3,500 to 10,000 sq ft.

Throughout the COVID-19 epidemic and lockdown, the business has been active with recruitment and now plans to appoint additional staff across its structure, including two additional experienced facilities managers.

One of the new facilities managers will be responsible for Downing’s commercial and residential portfolio and the second will manage a selection of its Downing Students developments.Reporting to the head of property management, both roles will be based out of its head office in Liverpool.

Downing is experiencing its most significant expansion phase to date with a number of high-profile projects currently under construction, including two new Downing Student sites in London and one at River Street in Manchester, collectively comprising 1,750 new bedrooms.

A 28,000 sq. ft speculative grade A office scheme is also due for completion next year at Miles Street in Vauxhall, London.
