Glenbrook acquired a former office building at the Liverpool waterfront site in 2014 and delivered 240 apartments and now is proposing to add another 257. Tony McDonough reports
Developer Glenbrook Property and Barings Real Estate have unveiled a £40m plan for 257 new apartments on Liverpool’s waterfront.
Glenbrook acquired the former HMRC office building at Kings Dock in 2014 and delivered a residential scheme known as The Keel which comprised 240 apartments. Its new project will be to the rear of The Keel.
This latest planning application is an amended version of a previously consented scheme that expired earlier this year. In addition to this application, the wider site gained planning consent for a townhouse scheme and a new residents’ pavilion in 2019.
When fully completed the overall site will accommodate 503 homes in a mix of studio, one, two and three-bed apartments and townhouses which all benefit from Kings Dock and Mersey River views.
Barings acquired The Keel in 2018 and Glenbrook was retained as development partner for the remaining phases. Stuart McCrone, projects director at Glenbrook, said: “We are very excited to be lodging this application that builds on the success of The Keel and confirms this area as one of the prime residential locations in Liverpool.
“Glenbrook has a long-standing track record of successfully delivering projects in Liverpool and we look forward to continuing this with completing the next phases of development at The Keel.”
The scheme has been designed by Architects Brock Carmichael.
