Developer Vistry has submitted plans to build 534 new Wirral homes close to the River Mersey and include better access to the waterfront and a new bus route.
Bromborough Wharf will be built on a 35-acre derelict brownfield site close to the Bromborough Pool Conservation Area. It was formerly home to a chemical works that closed in 2006. It is also close to Port Sunlight River Park.
Vistry has submitted a reserved matters application (a detailed submission that follows outline approval) for the development comprising 424 one, two, three and four-bedroom homes as well as an extra care facility with 110 one and two-bedroom apartments.
This extra care development would include community amenities such as a bistro and hairdresser, helping to create a welcoming and accessible environment for residents.
Affordable housing is proposed across at least half of the development in partnership with registered provider partners. An ‘affordable’ home is one where the sale price or rent is no more than 80% of the local market rate.
The remaining homes would be delivered for private sale through the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands. There will also be a three-metre wide pedestrian and cycle route that will run along the estuary frontage from Dock Road South to Riverbank Road.
This includes the introduction of a new bus route through the development as well as new areas of public open space and play facilities, alongside biodiversity net gain measures and financial contributions towards local services and infrastructure.
