Low-cost airline easyJet has announced a new winter sun route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

Starting on Monday, October 27, easyJet will begin twice weekly return flights to the Canary Islands. This will operate on Mondays and Fridays throughout the winter, with one-way fares from £35.

With more than 25 routes, easyJet is LJLA’s biggest airline. In November easyJet said it will increase the number of its aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) from seven to eight from summer 2025. This latest investment will support an extra 400 jobs.

In January LBN reported the airline was on track to report full-year pre-tax profits, for the 12 months to September 30, 2025, of £709m. This would be almost £100m higher than the £610m reported last year.

This new route to Gran Canaria offers access to a sun-soaked destination that also has something for the more adventurous. People can venture up one of Gran Canaria’s many volcanoes to take in the views and experience the island’s canyons, cliffs and calderas.

Paul Winfield, aviation director for LJLA, said: “This new service will now enable more passengers from across the North West to travel to Gran Canaria from Liverpool compared to the current imbalance in the region.

“We look forward to welcoming lots of passengers choosing to fly on holiday in search of some Winter sun from Liverpool with easyJet.”

EasyJet has more than 640,000 seats now on sale for destinations from Liverpool for the winter 2025 season, between December 15, 2025, and March 22, 2026.

Its tour operator arm, easyJet holidays, will also be offering package holidays on this new service, with all packages including flights, hotel, 23kg luggage and transfers, covered by its Ultimate Flexibility.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, added, “We are really pleased to be adding yet another new route from Liverpool, providing another great choice for customers looking to chase the winter sun and book a beach getaway to look forward to.”
