Event to reward charity volunteers

The 5th March will see the Lord Mayor and the mayor’s four chosen charities hosting the “Get Involved?” event at Liverpool Town Hall.

Charities represented at the event will include the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Alzheimer’s Society, The Reader Organisation and SSAFA, as well as a selection of other local charities offering volunteering opportunities alongside charitable businesses and funders. All will come together to focus on the key benefits to recruiting and becoming a volunteer, along with rewarding their own volunteers in an accompanying award ceremony.

Volunteers from each of the charities present will be acknowledged through the “Volunteer of the Year” Award, as well as “Trustee of the Year” and “Carer of the Year”. An additional special award will be presented: the Lord Mayor’s “Making a Difference” award, recognising an individual’s real impact in their community.

The Lord Mayor Erica Kemp said:

“I am hoping to raise a lot of money for these charities during my year as Lord Mayor but more importantly I’m hoping to get people to work as volunteers for these organisations as I want to ensure there will be a long lasting legacy for the charities when I step down as Lord Mayor in May 2015”.
