Everyman and Playhouse theatres support Independent Liverpool card scheme

Liverpool’s Everyman and Playhouse theatres have agreed to stock the Independent Liverpool card which offers holders discounts and special offers across more than 100 businesses in the city.

The card was set up by Oliver Press and David Williams in August 2013.

Their aim was to showcase the “diversity of taste and talent of the individual and the independent places in Liverpool” and support those business against the “increasing homogenisation of the city’s high streets”.

Just over one year on, there are now 6,000 card-holders using the benefits of the card. Cardholders can access discounts and offers from some of the city’s leading entertainment venues, shops, bars and restaurants.

The theatre group will become only the second business to stock the card, starting today, at its Hope Street and Williamson Square locations.

Before the new agreement, it was only available online or from Utility’s Bold Street store.

The Everyman & Playhouse is the only major Liverpool arts venue currently supporting the Independent Liverpool Card and users will be able to get 10% off in-house productions which are made in Liverpool.

Sarah Ogle, Everyman & Playhouse director of Communications said:

“We are dedicated to not just creating great theatre ‘made in Liverpool’ but also to sharing that with the people of Liverpool.”

“Oliver and David are similarly passionate about sharing the spirit of Liverpool and so working with them is a perfect fit for us.”

“The deal means more people can enjoy world class theatre at an affordable price and by selling ‘The Card’, we are placing ourselves at the heart of the culture of supporting Independent businesses like us in the city.”

Oliver Press and David Williams added:

“We have worked closely with the Everyman since their re-birth in 2014, and we are delighted that the people of Liverpool can now buy their Independent Liverpool membership card from there.”

“The Everyman, together with the Playhouse, is a cultural powerhouse in Liverpool and teaming up with this organisation is a great chance for us to be connected to their intelligent and informed customers.”

“Everyman & Playhouse are two distinctive theatres but are united by a commitment to brilliant, humane, forward-thinking theatre that responds to its time and the city.”
