Your invaluable guide to the two-day event taking place at Sefton Park this weekend with more than 70 acts taking over four performance areas

 

Liverpool International Music Festival is a huge celebration of music taking place in Sefton Park on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. 

In its sixth year, it is one of the highlights of the city’s events calendar, with more than 70 acts taking over four performance areas – Central Stage, True School Club House Stage, the ItsLiverpool Next Gen Stage and The Shubz DJ Tent.

As well as the 18 hours of live music, there’s also a family zone, VIP area as well as loads of food and drink concessions onsite. Below is everything you need to know about the event:

When is it on?

LIMF takes place on 21 and 22 July.

Saturday – midday to 9pm

Sunday – midday to 9pm

Last entry to the festival is 7pm.

Who’s on the line-up?

There’s more than 70 live acts so it’s pretty huge. To give you a flavour, across the weekend you have Example & DJ Wire, Haçienda Classiçal, Stefflon Don, Jax Jones, Basement Jaxx (DJ Set), DJ Jazzy Jeff, Tim Westwood, Young Fathers, Trevor Nelson, Aurora and Wiley.

What is different this year?

For the first time, LIMF is a fully ticketed event and the festival site will be fenced-off.

What are the ticket prices?

Advanced tickets cost just £5 per person, but if you buy tickets on the day they will be £10 per person.

Children under 11 can go free, but they still need a ticket.

VIP tickets are completely sold out for both days.

Can you buy a ticket on the day?

If they’re not sold out, then yes. The onsite box office will be open on Saturday from 11am-10pm and Sunday 11am-7pm.

However from midnight the night before event days, the tickets will increase from £5 to £10. So, tickets for Saturday will increase at midnight on Friday 20 July. Tickets for Sunday will increase from midnight on Saturday 21 July.

Do I need to print off my ticket or just show it on my phone?

If you’ve purchased your ticket/s in advance you will have received a confirmation email from Ticket Quarter. Attached to this email will be a pdf with your ticket/s.

You can either print this out and bring along with you, or open the pdf on your phone when you are in the queue – if it’s ready on your phone you can get the barcode scanned quickly which means your LIMF 2018 experience can get underway.

Please note, printing the receipt for your tickets will not gain you access.

If you purchased a group of tickets, please try and all arrive together so you can be scanned in as a group.

The LIMF team will be on hand to speak to anyone with any queries.

Is the VIP area back?

Yes, but due to popular demand (everyone loves a private bar and posh loos) they have sold out.

Should I bring the whole family along?

This is a family-friendly event – there’s music for all tastes, a family zone for younger members of the family, a small fairground and of course a gorgeous green park for you to relax in and enjoy while LIMF provides you with the perfect soundtrack.

Remember, although under 11s go free – they still need a ticket, so get one in advance.

There is a whole host of activities to get involved with in the Children and Family Zone from sand carving, jamming sessions, a brand new Ocean Dome and a silent disco.  It will be open each day from midday to 6pm.

Can I buy food and drink at the festival or can I bring my own?

Feel free to bring your own picnics, but there will be a whole host of culinary delights on offer from burgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken, noodles, Lebanese cuisine and fish and chips – something to tickle everyone’s taste buds.  There will also be the usual bars and coffee stalls to wash down the delicious food on offer.

No alcohol is allowed to be brought onsite and it will be confiscated on entry. There are plenty of bars on site offering competitively priced alcoholic drinks.

Festival goers can of course bring their own unopened soft drinks as long as they are not in glass containers.

 

Is there a disabled viewing area?

There is one viewing platform located in front of the main stage. Space is allocated on a first come, first served basis.

What should I wear?

Anything goes, but may sure you check the weather forecast in advance. Bring layers if it’s going to be nippy, bring sun cream and lots of water if it’s going to be sunny.

Any rules I should know about?

Animals, barbeques, fireworks, flares and glass bottles are some of the items prohibited on site. Be aware there is Challenge 25 policy so if you look younger than 25, you may be asked by bar staff to provide ID to prove you are over 18 and can legally buy alcohol.

Alcohol cannot be brought on site and bag searches will take place on entry to the festival.

How do I get there?

Public transport is the answer.

If you plan on traveling by train, be aware Liverpool Lime Street Station is closed for refurbishment, however Liverpool South Parkway is a short distance away from Sefton Park, and from there catch the Merseyrail train which stops at St Michaels station. Plan your journey on www.merseyrail.org

No parking is available in the areas surrounding the park, with the exception of limited disabled parking bays, which can be accessed via Croxteth Gates, allocated on a first come first served basis. 

Are you providing a shuttle service once the festival has finished?

Yes, there will be an Arriva Shuttle Service in operation on the Saturday and Sunday which will run after the event has finished and will just take festival-goers into the city centre.  It will operate from 8.45pm, and you can get on board at Croxteth Drive (near the Hallmark Hotel) and the journey will end in the city centre at Great Charlotte Street.
