Exhibition Centre Liverpool secures their first international business win

For its first major international event, the Exhibition Centre Liverpool (due to open September 2015) has secured the European Association for International Education (EAIE) annual exhibition and conference.

The conference is confirmed for the new venue complex from September 12 – 16 2016. The largest international higher education conference in Europe, EAIE will attract as many as 5,500 participants over the five days, with yet more delegates expected to attend the attached exhibition. The economic benefit to the local city region is estimated to be worth £9.4 million.

ACC Liverpool, in charge of Exhibition Centre Liverpool, worked in close partnership with the University of Liverpool to secure the event, bringing together important leaders and decision makers in the international higher education sector.

Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales of ACC Liverpool, said:

“We are delighted to announce this large global event which comes as a result of the relationships we have been building in the international conference market over the past four years.

“The event will use all venues within the ACC Liverpool family portfolio – BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena and Exhibition Centre Liverpool – so our entire venue will be utilised for this event. Some delegates will have the opportunity to stay in our new integrated four-star, 216-room Pullman hotel which is part of the new development.”

Exhibition Centre Liverpool will play host to about 50 events and bring in as many as 250,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Confirmed events include the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers FPS Expo, MCM Expo group and the RenewableUK conference.

A topping out ceremony was held recently to signify the final section of the roof being put into place, which also invited VIP guests to sign the steel beam and play witness to the hotel being manoeuvred into place.
