Liverpool-based construction and fit-out firm, Aztec, has secured a trio of ecclesiastical projects in Merseyside with a combined value of more than £1m.

Aztec has been appointed to complete the refurbishment of the Grade II-listed St Nicholas Church close to Liverpool’s waterfront – a place of worship since 1247.

In the grounds of Liverpool Cathedral, Aztec is building an extension to St Aidan’s House, providing additional conference and meeting room space for teaching and training.

Completing the trio of projects, the firm will deliver an extensive re-ordering and refurbishment project at St John’s Church, Ainsdale.

Works include complete mechanical and electrical renewal, including underfloor heating, complete refinishing plus new manufactured joinery made in Aztec’s own joiner’s workshop.

Iain Peacock, managing director at Aztec, said: “Construction work on heritage buildings requires a knowledgeable, considered approach with specialist expertise.

“Based in Liverpool and with expertise in both traditional and modern building methods, our team was the right fit for these important projects; the three buildings are very dear to their local communities.

“We are working hard to ensure that the work is delivered to the highest standard, on time, and with minimal disruption.”
