Liverpool charity Football For Change is on the shortlist for the Burberry British Diversity Awards

Football For Change, a Liverpool-based charity backed by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jamie Carragher and Conor Coady, has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Liverpool charity is nominated for the Social Mobility Initiative of the Year accolade in the Burberry British Diversity Awards. The awards celebrate leading diversity and inclusion champions.

In the same category as Football For Change are major businesses including Virgin Atlantic and HSBC UK.

Launched in 2020 via fundraising and grant-making, Football For Change aims to lift young people out of poverty by giving them the tools to build better futures.

It focuses support on NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people by funding projects to help them into further education and employment.

In partnership with the Communities Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside, it has already started to support projects on Merseyside with grants.

So far the team has raised more than £700,000 at two high-profile fundraising events which have been backed by stars including Sir Rod Stewart, Noel Gallagher and Olly Murs.

The awards ceremony takes place at Grosvenor House, London, on Wednesday, March 22. They will be co-hosted by presenter, diversity expert and award-winning author June Sarpong plus NHS doctor and BAFTA award-winning television presenter Dr Ranj Singh.
