Fun for all the family this Bank Holiday weekend at Liverpool ONE

Liverpool ONE has unveiled a packed roster of events and activities to keep families busy this Bank Holiday weekend. Tony McDonough reports.

Family fun at Liverpool ONE

Its family-friendly programme offers fantastic free events, with a variety of themes to suit everyone and keep individuals and families thoroughly entertained.

Visitors can enjoy a range of immersive and experiential activities at Gravity MAX, which opened its doors at Liverpool ONE earlier this month.

Set across across two floors in the former Debenhams building, visitors can participate in a range of activities, from a multi-level e-carting track, augmented reality (AR) bowling, 18-hole Tech Street Golf, Hologate VR, immersive Gamebox, an esports arena, batting cages, or battle it out at Liverpool’s largest pool hall.

A schedule of live bands and singers will provide weekly entertainment, accompanied by DJ sets, themed nights and shows.

The food hall offers a variety of cuisines including burgers by Wendy’s, 800 Degrees Pizza, pasta by Coco di Mama, award-winning gyros by The Athenian, and desserts by Creams.

Tickle the Ivories returns to Liverpool ONE, following a brief reprise earlier in the year to celebrate Eurovision.
Master musicians and budding Beethoven’s are invited to be a part of creating Liverpool ONE’s unbeatable summer atmosphere by filling the air with music.

Participants can find pianos at Sugar House Steps (by John Lewis & Partners), South John Street, Peter’s Square, College Lane and The Galleria (by the entrance of ODEON).

The 12th annual Liverpool Biennial is back for 2023 with ‘uMoya: The sacred Return of Lost Things’ until 17 September.

Artworks from more than 30 international artists and collectives can be seen in unexpected places across the city, including Liverpool ONE, which hosts a large-scale vibrant artwork by Rudy Loewe on Thomas Steers Way as part of the city-wide festival.

Visitors to Liverpool ONE can also hark the city’s rich history on the Heritage Trail, or learn more about local flora and fauna in the Nature Trail. Tours are suitable for all ages and booklets are available to pick up from the Information Centre or download the MyONE app.

And if none of that’s your thing, one of Europe’s leading retail and leisure destinations, Liverpool ONE offers over 170 stores, bars and restaurants, a 14-screen cinema, indoor golf courses and five-acre Chavasse park.
