A haven for ‘golf widows’ in Hatton Garden
More than 200,000 people are set to descend on Royal Birkdale this week for the launch of the 146th Open Golf Championship. And whilst scores of men get set to indulge their golf hobby, Liverpool’s ladies-only spa, Nourish, based in Hatton Garden, are offering a haven for the wives left behind. Jennie Lewis reports.
The team at Nourish have created a bespoke package for those ladies left feeling ‘teed off’.
Grace McGinnis, founder of Nourish, which describes itself as a lifestyle boutique and offers spa facilities, gym, treatment rooms and a yoga studio, said: “We all know how fanatical some men can get about the game of golf and we here at Nourish know that the two weeks of the Open are the most intense of the year especially for the women in Liverpool.
“Our luxurious getaway package allows them to pamper themselves while their partners, husbands and friends watch or attend the tournament.”
With preliminary rounds already underway at Royal Birkdale, ladies who have been left at a loose end can opt for a little r&r instead, in some of the city’s most sumptuous surroundings.
The spa is offering a variety of treatments as part of a specially-tailored package, which includes a glass of prosecco, full use of the facilities, an indulgent full body massage and nourishing facial – all in a male-free and, more importantly, golf-free environment.
Grace added: “This package is intended to be a great bit of fun and also offer some serious r&r time for those women who don’t want to play or watch golf and fancy a treat instead.”
The Golf Widow package is £75 and is bookable only in advance.
