Hilton Liverpool has new general manager

New general manager to take over at Hilton Liverpool City Centre following the departure of Marcus McGee, who left in June 2024 after 15 years at the hotel. Tony McDonough reports

Phil McPeake has been named as the new general manager of Hilton Liverpool City Centre and will take over on December 4.

One of Liverpool most prominent hotels, the Hilton in Liverpool ONE opened its doors in 2009 after a £50m investment. Offering 221 rooms, the hotel is a major landmark on the Strand and overlooks the Royal Albert Dock and waterfront.

Phil will follow Marcus Magee who left the Hilton Liverpool in June 2024 after more than 15 years at the helm. During that time he ensured the hotel maintained a “consistent profit margin” and promoted it as a venue for major events.

Marcus also played a wider role in the promotion of the city’s visitor economy as chair of the Liverpool Hoteliers Association and the Liverpool Accommodation BID.

For the past four years Phil worked as general manager of the Hilton Dublin Airport and prior to that he was general manager at Hilton York and director of operations at Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

Originally from the North West, Phil started his career in the kitchen, including roles at Etrop Grange Hotel and aboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2.
