Hostel operator invests £600K in Stanley Street
A UK hostel operator has invested £600,000 in the refurbishment of its Liverpool site.
Euro Hostel acquired Hoax Hostel on Stanley Street in March and has now completed an eight-week refurbishment that includes the unveiling of the new look brand and overhaul of many of the hostel’s bedrooms, public areas and its 250-capacity bar and live music venue, renamed The Hatch.
Euro Hostel is also close to completing three new VIP hostel suites; each designed to allow large groups to stay together in their own private, self-contained space at a budget that won’t break the bank. The final six-bed suite is expected to be complete before Christmas, adding to the first six-bed and eight-bed suites already available.
As well as a sleeping area, each suite has its own private living and bathroom spaces. Handy extras include GHD straighteners, widescreen TVs and private USB ports. The suites are located on the previously unused basement level, making them ideal party places.
Additional upgrading and corrective works include new glazing in keeping with the heritage of the surrounding area, damp proofing, roof works and extensive internal redecoration.
Euro Hostel changed the face of hostel standards when it opened its first site in 2000 and now operates hostels in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Liverpool is the newest addition to the chain and the hostel offers a total of 260 bed spaces. Three types of accommodation are available; private rooms for one, two, four, six or eight people, beds in dorms and the new VIP suites. All accommodation types have en-suite bathrooms and all areas of the hostel benefit from free wifi. Beds start from as little as £12.50 a night.
Euro Hostel’s general manager at Liverpool, Emma Wright said:
“The Euro Hostel brand has changed the perception of hostel accommodation and it’s become an incredibly popular, sociable and fun way to visit a city.
“This hostel now looks and feels like the rest of the chain and the new brand brings a touch of energy and humour which we expect to really strike a chord with visitors to Liverpool.
“The addition of VIP suites allows us to cater for the groups market which has been traditionally under-represented by city centre accommodation providers. Whether it’s a family visit, a friends mini-break, a group celebration or a school trip we have the accommodation and facilities to match.”
Euro Hostel will celebrate its refurbishment and the launch of its new brand with a Liverpool launch party on Thursday 12th November, which will be hosted by Imogen Townley and feature Internet musical sensations, The Showhawk Duo.
