Hugo Boss follows suit with Metquarter expansion

German fashion chain Hugo Boss has put plans to expand and remodel its shop at Liverpool’s Metquarter shopping mall into action.

The size of the shop will increase to comprise an additional floor with an expanded capacity totalling more than 10,000 square feet.

The internal and external refurbishment means that Hugo Boss will be temporarily relocating for two months to another unit in the Metquarter.

This expansion plan sees Hugo Boss following suit after Savile Row tailor Gieves & Hawkes taking a new decade long lease and doubling their own floorspace to form its largest store outside of Central London. Independent jeweller Mococo has also confirmed its own decade long lease and has tripled its unit size.

Metquarter centre manager Jennina O’Neill said:

“Since the acquisition of the asset in 2012 the new owners and their asset management team have focused on ensuring that current retail tenants have benefitted from more intensive retail and marketing related support to drive brand awareness and retail sales performance.

“This approach has resulted in the majority of our retailers sales performances growing healthily in 2013 and 2014 and ultimately, improved their long-term commitment through these store investment and refurbishment programmes.”
