Independent businesses in Liverpool impress MIB Award judges

In anticipation of Morecroft Solicitors’ second Merseyside Independent Business awards, judges praise the quality and variety of expertise and services on offer in Liverpool City Centre.

Independent businesses recognised

Following last year’s inaugural event, the Merseyside Independent Business (MIB) awards are back, both bigger and better than ever.

Independent panel members have selected the best up and coming independent businesses from more than 150 firms in 13 different categories. Morecrofts use the awards to highlight excellence and expertise, boosting local independents by awarding business support packages worth thousands of pounds to the winners.

Following last year’s success stories, there have been even more entrants and, as the award gains prestige, expanded interest and recognition for award winning local businesses. Judges have particularly noted the outstanding calibre of the nominated businesses, as well as the growth of Liverpool’s independent community as a whole.

The MIB awards last year saw support from many city-wide stakeholders and business interests, including the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, The BID Company, Liverpool Vision, and the Social Enterprise Network – not to mention other leading entrepreneurs and investors.

Judge’s praise

This year the judges have included Maggie O’Carroll, chief executive of The Women’s Organisation, the largest developer and deliverer of training support for women in the UK.

Enthusing about the quality of the entries, Maggie O’Carroll praised Liverpool’s local independent business community:

“I’m lucky to work with fantastic businesses like these every day and never fail to be bowled over by the tenacity, vision and ambition of the people driving them.

“These businesses are integral to the city’s reputation as being bold and enterprising and are helping us to shape our own future, despite the odds.

“My fellow judges and I are confident that the shortlist represents the best of independent businesses in the region and we wish them well.”

When and where?

After another round of independent assessments, 400 delegates will be invited to attend a glitzy black tie dinner at The Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse on 2nd October; a movie-awards themed ceremony that will highlight the entrant’s star potential!
