Italian restaurant brand Trattoria 51 has established itself as a popular venue for diners in Merseyside and is now set to open a third outlet.

Trattoria 51 opened its first restaurant in Southport 16 years ago and a second outlet was opened in Liverpool’s Old Hall Street in 2013. Now restauranteur Attilio Sergi is to open another Liverpool city centre restaurant at 51 Whitechapel.

Offering its popular menu of fresh fish, meat and vegetarian dishes and pizzas, as well as gluten and dairy-free options, the new Trattoria 51 Whitechapel will create 15 jobs within the 120-capacity venue, expanding on an already 36-strong team, when it opens, probably in late September.

Mr Sergi said: “We’ve been running Trattoria 51 for almost two decades now, first in Southport before opening in the heart of Liverpool’s business district in 2013. It’s certainly a testament to the hard work of the entire team at Trattoria 51 that we’re now in a position to open our third site and we’re all incredibly excited about it.

Being from Italy originally, we have been warmly welcomed into Liverpool and have seen hundreds of thousands of guests come through the doors of our Old Hall Street venue over the years, so it seemed only fitting that we open another location in the city.

“Trattoria 51 is a family-run business and everyone who works with us becomes part of that family. Being able to increase our team and provide new opportunities for the local workforce in Liverpool and Southport means a lot to us.

“It’s important to me to champion the best of this city and its hospitality industry by supporting our team to develop professionally and personally so they can build a fantastic career in the restaurant business.”
