Lawyers to walk in Liverpool for Access to Justice
Several hundred lawyers will take to the streets of Liverpool later this month for the 12th Liverpool Legal Walk to raise money for Access to Justice
Later this month several hundred lawyers will take part in the 12th Liverpool Legal Walk.
This event aims to raise money for the Access to Justice Foundation which helps the most vulnerable in society get access to vital law services.
It will see solicitors, barristers, judges and others engaged in the justice system, on a sponsored 5K walk. The walk is organised by the Access to Justice Foundation in conjunction with Liverpool Law Society.
Organiser and former Liverpool Law Society President, Steve Cornforth said: “There has never been a time in the last few years when there has been a greater need for full access to legal assistance.
“This is largely provided by law centres and other voluntary agencies who give this help free of charge.
“The Liverpool Walk, and others taking place across the country provide critical financial support, especially when access to legal aid is now so limited.”
The 2022 Liverpool Walk raised more than £18,000 which went to local initiatives. As the cost-of-living crisis worsens this need is only going to grow.
