Two leading business figures – Keira O’Mara and Mark Lawler – are to host a free workshop for local entrepreneurs in Liverpool in April.

Toxteth Library will be hosting the event on Wednesday, April 11, from 12 to 2pm as part of the drive by Merseyside Enterprise Hub to encourage more start-ups across the city region.

Ms O’Mara established Mama Designs in 2008. Today her products, for when babies are sleeping, breastfeeding or dribbling, are sold through high street names such as John Lewis, Mothercare and Toys R Us.

Mr Lawler is managing director of Baltic Creative CIC and has been instrumental in turning Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, until recently a collection of empty dock warehouses, into one of the UK’s fastest-growing digital and creative clusters.

Liverpool’s Central Library also houses a business and intellectual property centre, based on the first floor, and can support people looking to start or grow a business.

Working with a range of partner organisations the centre can offer free access to business and intellectual property databases and publications including market research, company data, business news plus information about intellectual property to protect your ideas, access to business advisers and experts.

Cllr Wendy Simon, Assistant Mayor of Liverpool & Cabinet Member – Culture, Tourism & Events said: “There are regular workshops and events to help businesses get to grips with all aspects of starting and growing a business.”
