Leading UK jobs site reports 14.8% surge in Liverpool vacancies in March
Data from the independent job site CV-Library shows the rise from February to March was the second-biggest among UK cities with only Aberdeen seeing a bigger rise of 18.4%. Tony McDonough reports
March saw an 14.8% surge in the number of job vacancies in Liverpool, according to one leading national jobs site.
Data from CV-Library shows the rise from February to March was the second-biggest among UK cities with only Aberdeen seeing a bigger rise of 18.4%. Liverpool beat Manchester at 10.5% and London at 9.1%.
CV-Library looked at fluctuations in pay, jobs and applications throughout March and the findings suggest that businesses across Liverpool were feeling more confident last month.
Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “It’s positive to see that businesses are continuing to drive their recruitment efforts this spring, following a strong start to the year.
“What’s more, the increase in vacancies across Liverpool suggests that business confidence is growing, offering plenty of exciting opportunities for job hunters in the city.”
Despite application rates in Liverpool seeing a slight decrease of 0.9% month-on-month, the city was one of the few to see an increase advertised salaries last month, rising by 6.9% when compared with data from February 2018.
Mr Biggins added: “It’s clear that businesses were pulling out all the stops to attract talented candidates last month. This is positive to see given that businesses in the city are facing the backlash of a widening skills gap.”
