Lidl has submitted a planning application to build a new supermarket on the site of the former Taskers homeware store in Wavertree in south Liverpool.

Now the discount chain is pushing on with plans for the store which will see the creation of 40 jobs, It is one of a number of new outlets the company is planning to open across Liverpool city region.
This latest planning application follows a local public consultation. More than 600 people took part in the consultation, of which an overwhelming 95% saying they supported the plans.
It would be built to the discounter’s latest store format and feature the Lidl in-store bakery, its popular middle aisle, and customer toilets with baby-changing facilities.
Outside, the plans include rapid electric vehicle charging points, covered bicycle parking, and dedicated accessible and parent-and-child parking bays. Solar panels on the store roof would meet on average 25% of the store’s energy consumption.
