Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has been shortlisted in the ‘Travel Brand of the Year’ category in the 2025 Which? Awards.

For two years running- in 2023 and 2024 – LJLA was named the UK’s best airport in a survey of thousands of travellers carried out by Which? Now the airport is in line for another accolade from the consumer bible.

Thanks to its high customer scores for its “excellent security, well managed bag drop queues, and great staff”, LJLA is now the only airport on the shortlist for the Travel Brand of the Year Award. It will find out if it has won at the awards ceremony on May 21.

Head of PR and communications at LJLA, Robin Tudor, said: “We are the only UK airport to be shortlisted which is fantastic but also this is Which?’s Travel Brand of the Year so it encompasses a host of businesses in the wider travel industry.

“We’re up against some big national brands so just to make the shortlist is something we’re really proud of.

“This isn’t about a panel of judges coming and looking at the airport, this is feedback from customers, either good or bad if their experience doesn’t live up to expectations.

“It’s an independent survey, we have no control over it, so for us to get such high scores in various different areas is testament to the work we’ve put in and shows passengers do appreciate what we’ve been doing.”

Attracting the Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays to Liverpool, to join other big hitters such as easyJet and Ryanair, was a key factor in LJLA breaking through the 5m passengers barrier for the first time in several years in 2024.

In March the airport started work on a major expansion of its Aspire Executive Lounge. Part of a multi-million pound investment into passenger facilities at the airport by LJLA, this latest project is set for completion in time for the peak of the summer season.

It will create capacity in the lounge for more than 200 people and will feature a two-tiered offering, with guests able to choose either the usual Aspire facilities or upgrade to the Luxe by Aspire offer for the first time, with its private booths, communal workspace, premium snacks and drinks and is for adults only.
