Liverpool Food & Drink Spring Festival organisers to crown the region’s best amateur gardener

Liverpool Food and Drink Festival has teamed up with Whitakers Garden Centre to search for Merseyside’s finest vegetable patch. As part of the festival’s brand new spring event, set to take place in Sefton Park during the Easter weekend (5th-6th April) – organisers will crown the region’s best amateur gardener.

The new family focussed spring festival will be themed around growing your own kitchen garden with plenty of vegetable planting demonstrations and gardening masterclasses on offer. To coincide with the edible garden theme, organisers are calling for amateur gardeners across Merseyside to share photos of their crowning glory in full bloom, whether it is an allotment or vegetable patch in the back garden, or just a simple window box.

The best photos will be showcased on the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival website and Facebook page with the winner receiving a hamper packed with gardening essentials, £50 to spend at Whitakers garden centre, a guaranteed place at a gardening masterclass of their choice and a free two-day family pass to the festival.

Denise Harris, Managing Director at Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, said:

“The competition is open to anyone with a passion for growing their own produce. We want people to dig out any photos of their beautiful allotments, vegetable patches, gardens and window boxes in full bloom so we can celebrate the dedication of our region’s amateur growers.

“We’re looking forward to seeing all the entries and hopefully inspiring even more people in the city, old and young, to start growing their own too.”

As well as grow your own masterclasses, Liverpool Food and Drink Spring Festival will also feature lots of interactive fun for families, including chocolate masterclasses and a live petting zoo, along with around 50 producers serving up the tastiest treats from around the world.

The winner will be announced on 20th March. To enter tweet your photo to @LivFoodDrink, or email to Leanne@skevents.co.uk
