Liverpool Hoteliers Association thrilled by multi-million economy boost following Three Queens

Liverpool Hoteliers Association has welcomed the news of a multi-million pound boost in the city’s economy following the Cunard’s Three Queens event.

The monumental occasion that took place across three days welcomed the arrival of the famous cruise liners Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria – all of which joined forces in Liverpool to mark Cunard’s 175th anniversary.

In addition to contributing to increased hotel occupancy levels and footfall throughout the city, members of Liverpool Hoteliers Association believe that the Three Queens event offered a ‘substantial boost’ for the Liverpool’s ‘thriving visitor economy’.

James Rush, Chairman of Liverpool Hoteliers Association and GM at Malmaison Liverpool said:

“The Queens rocked hotel occupancies to their foundations – it was a watershed moment of unprecedented proportions, as hoteliers welcomed a monumental wave of clientele.

“Initial indicators suggest hotels were full to the brim, with great food and beverage spends across the city. The vibrancy of Liverpool, through to the organisation of the event, and the spectacle that was Cunard’s epic historic and spiritual occasion, filled me and my LHA and Malmaison colleagues with a great sense of pride to be part of the team – that is team Liverpool!”

The event drew in thousands of spectators on both a local and global scale and created business for a host of Liverpool tourist attractions, restaurants, bars and retail – particularly around the Liverpool One and Albert Dock areas.

Steven Devine, General Manager at Atlantic Tower said:

“Throughout the event we received some amazing comments from our guests about the ‘feel good’ factor in the city and the positive welcome from all – the city really did itself proud!”

Marcus Magee, General Manager of Hilton Hotel said:

“The Three Queens bank holiday celebrations were a triumph for the city and for Hilton Hotel as we were delighted to welcome guests from around the globe.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that those who visited have taken away with them the most amazing and memorable experiences our city has to offer.”

For The Richmond Hotel in Hatton Garden, the Three Queens event saw record-breaking revenue for General Manager Steven Hesketh and his team.

Helen Roberts, General Manager of Holiday Inn Express Albert Dock, added:

“The Albert Dock saw an unprecedented number of visitors watch the Three Queens spectacular, which I think was a triumph for the city. The eyes of the world were once again on Liverpool and the crowds didn’t disappoint.”
