Liverpool law firm Hill Dickinson will pay out another big windfall to its partners after it reported a seventh successive year of revenue growth.
Based in St Paul’s Square in the city centre, with offices across the UK and overseas, Hill Dickinson saw a 12% increase in revenues to £145.5m in the 12 months April 30, 2024. Pre-tax profits were also up to £59.2m from £46.1m in 2023.
Hill Dickinson is a limited liability partnership (LLP). An LLP is owned by its partners (referred to in this case as ‘members’) and Hill Dickinson has 150 partners, up from 141 last year.
Thanks to the increased profits they will share a pot totalling £54m, 13% more than 2023. Not all partners will receive an equal share. The highest paid partner at the firm will pocket £1.16m.
For the first time in its history Hill Dickson saw its headcount rise above 1,000. They are employed across seven UK offices and well as overseas bases in Hong Kong, Singapore, Piraeus (Athens), Monaco, Geneva and Limassol in Cyprus.
During the accounting period Hill Dickinson saw expansion of all three core business groups – business services, health and marine and trade – and a series of new office openings in the UK and abroad.
Its growth has been spurred by nationwide location and service-line expansion, including the opening of a new Birmingham office in February. It welcomed three teams of lateral hires, including four partners, to offer corporate, commercial and property services.
Hill Dickinson also celebrated the opening in January this year of a new long-term Leeds office based in 11 Wellington Place, more than trebling the size of its office space in the Yorkshire city.
Within Europe, it grew its footprint by entering into formal collaboration agreements with leading marine law experts G Zambartas in Limassol, Cyprus, and SMB Law in Geneva, Switzerland.
In April this year Peter Jackson retired from his role as chief executive of Hill Dickinson. He joined the firm 40 years ago. He remains a partner and non-executive director.
