Liverpool PR professional Daniel Hughes has been shortlisted for a major North West industry award.

The former Labour Party spin-doctor has been shortlisted alongside Manchester’s Weber Shandwick consultancy in the CIPR PRIDE Awards North West – the region’s top public relations honours.

The nomination came in the ‘Issues, Crisis Communications and Reputation Management’ category.

The nominated campaign detailed the public relations activity around the planning, build and launch of Signature Living’s Exchange Hotel in Cardiff Bay.

The build faced initial hostility from local MPs and developers, but won over stakeholders and the public through a strong, multi-channel media and community relations programme.

Daniel said: “I’m thrilled to be nominated for this CIPR Award, which recognises the great work done by the Signature Living PR team under my leadership.

This is the Oscars of North West PR, and it’s traditionally dominated by big Manchester agencies.

Daniel has recently strengthened his team with former Kellogg’s PR Liam O’Brien, as well as Alex Croft, who worked on Steve Rotheram’s successful city region mayoral campaign.
