A Liverpool hospitality business with two city centre restaurants says it has been “inundated” with bookings since the easing of lockdown.

The Trunk Collective operates Trunk Lounge in Hope Street at Silk Rd at Beetham Plaza. Trunk Lounge was given a makeover during lockdown with the outdoor terrace transformed into a decked garden with wind shelter and awnings to keep the rain off.

Silk Rd, in the city’s commercial district, has been operating a small terrace since venues were allowed to open outdoors on April 12 but with the weather as unpredictable as ever it has been a stop start few weeks for the team.

Chris Williams, managing director of The Trunk Collective, said “Since the roadmap was announced, we’ve been absolutely inundated with bookings for Trunk Lounge which has been amazing.

“We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback from our guests and it has been a delight to have customers back. We are a small independent run business and the wider team have been amazing and really pulled together, I think we are all just glad to have a bit of normality back in our lives.”

Trunk Lounge offers a menu of tastes and flavours from around the world. It is open seven days a week serving brunch, lunch, tapas, cocktails and shakes.

Silk Rd staff  have spent the last couple of weeks preparing the restaurant to once again and was finally able to welcome in guests on May 17. Taking inspiration from the Silk Rd trail, which spans three continents from the Pacific to the Mediterranean, the venue serves up authentic cuisine.

Co-owners Javier Mellado said “Being situated nearby popular shopping destinations in Liverpool and in close proximity to the city’s business district makes us accessible to everyone whether they are looking to join us for a business lunch or a meal with family and friends.”
