Independent jobs site CV-Library said Liverpool saw the second biggest rise in vacancies of 19.7% during April, May and June, beaten only by Hull. Tony McDonough reports

There was an 20% surge in the number of job vacancies in Liverpool in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the same period in 2017, new data shows.

Using figures from its own database, independent jobs site CV-Library said Liverpool saw the second biggest rise in vacancies of 19.7% during April, May and June, beaten only by Hull which saw a huge rise of 38%. The UK average was 11.6%

Liverpool was top of the league when it came to rises in advertised salaries during the quarter, up 6.1% in the second quarter compared to 2017.

CV-Library is the third-biggest jobs site in the UK and has the largest database of CVs in the UK – more than 12m.

Best performing sectors for vacancy rises across the UK were agriculture (38.2%), legal (26.6%), IT (19.9%), hospitality (18.7%) and manufacturing (17%).

Yet despite this, employers across the UK appear to be showing resilience, as they’ve continued to drive their recruitment efforts in the last 12 months.”
