Liverpool-based Dig Vinyl is to open a second Merseyside record outlet with a new store set to launch in Wirral.

Over the past decade Dig Vinyl has established itself as a favourite for vinyl enthusiasts. With its team of “dedicated crate diggers” (an enthusiast happy to look through crates for rare records) the Bold Street business has already expanded three times.

Now the venture will open a second permanent vinyl store in Banks Road in West Kirby on Saturday, November 4. It will be joining what it calls a “vibrant independent retail scene” in the Wirral coastal town.

This new outlet will stock the usual diversity of genres, eras and sounds that its loyal customers have come to expect. These include rare finds from the US, Japan, and beyond.

And it will see an extension of Dig Vinyl’s partnership with Birkenhead music venue Future Yard, committing to stock releases by the emerging artists and local talents who perform on stage.

It will also continue to partner with Future Yard on the organisation of the quarterly CRATE Vinyl & Craft Beer market.

“Eager to join the thriving creative scene on the Wirral, Dig Vinyl looks forward to embarking on new collaborations with local organisations, venues, pubs, and bars,” the business said on Tuesday.

“Our first partnership sees New Brighton-based SUP shop showcasing a revolving collection of screen-printed gig posters from their Onomatoposter exhibition, curated by local artist Toucan Tango.

“Fans of the Bold Street shop needn’t worry as Dig Vinyl’s Liverpool shop will continue to operate as usual, remaining as dedicated to digging as ever.”

Describing itself as “more than just a record shop”, Dig Vinyl has integrated itself into the music community of the north and farther afield. It has participated in events such as Eurovision, We Out Here Festival and the David Bowie World Fan Convention.

The team offers musical insights and staff recommendations through various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and radio shows.”
