Record February temperatures has seen demand for workplace cooling appliances rise significantly according to one Merseyside air-conditioning firm.

Everkool doesn’t normally see a spike in demand until at least April or May but with the mercury now exceeding a balmy 20 degrees it is receiving record enquiries from companies looking to keep their staff cool.

Founder and managing director of the Bootle business, Craig Greenwood, estimates demand is around 60% than it was this time last year.

It follows a record summer for Everkool last year which saw them fit more air-conditioning appliances in households and shopping centres across Merseyside than ever before amid the heatwave. 

Craig added: “There has been a spike in interest in February from people enquiring about air-conditioning products which is unusual for the time of year but it does fit in with a general trend of people investing in household cooling facilities. 

“Traditionally the majority of our business has come from fitting out offices, shopping centres and other public buildings but there is a clear increase in demand from households as temperatures rise.

“It is conceivable that demand for cooling could overtake that for heating if temperatures continues to rise. We saw it during last summer’s heatwave which resulted in record business for Everkool.” 

Everkool, which was launched in 2008, is one of the North West’s leading suppliers of air conditioning and ventilation services. They recently scooped contracts with a string of Merseyside organisations including Knowsley Council, Merseytravel and the Iliad Group.
