Profits at Liverpool legal and insurance services firm Carpenters Group soar 24% to £3.6m with joint owners Donna Scully and John Carpenter sharing a £1m dividends windfall. Tony McDonough reports

It has been another good year for Liverpool city region legal and insurance services firm Carpenters Group and its owners with rising revenues and profits.
Liverpool-based Carpenters, which also has offices in Birkenhead, Leeds, Haywards Heath, Manchester and Glasgow, has posted its accounts for the 12 months to December 31, 2025, on Companies House.
They show a 7% rise in revenues to £78.4m and a 24% surge in pre-tax profits to £3.6m. These realists see joint owners – Donna Scully and John Carpenter – share a dividends windfall of £1m to add to the £1.3m they pocketed in 2024.
Employing more than 1,300 people, Carpenters provides legal services to insurance companies and brokers and handles personal injury claims. During 2026 it opened a new office in Cardiff.
Writing in the annual report, chief executive Donna Richards said: “The group has continued to see significant growth during the year, with its combined expertise in the legal and claims handling sectors.
“This growth has originated from both new insurer relationships and an expansion of the range of services to existing motor insurer partners.”

In September this year Carpenters said its serious injury team had secured a £4m settlement for a client who suffered a devastating spinal cord injury in a road traffic collision.
Its client, a motorcyclist, sustained a complete spinal cord injury at T2 level following a collision with a car, leaving him paralysed from the chest down. The impact has created “lifelong challenges” around mobility, personal care, health management, accommodation and future financial security.
