Mersey Maritime has revealed the finalists for its ninth annual Mersey Maritime Industry Awards (MMIAs) with a wider industry vote to open in October.

Now recognised as one of the biggest events in the calendar of the UK’s £116bn maritime sector, the MMIAs celebrate the achievements of the industry’s most outstanding companies and individuals.

Diamond sponsors for this year’s awards are Kays Medical, and Liverpool John Moores University with a number of other companies sponsoring the categories.

Taking place at Liverpool Cathedral on Thursday, November 2, from 6.30pm to 11pm, the MMIAs are open to any business, company, individual, non-profit organisation or charity, operating in or supporting the maritime, logistics and energy sectors.

This year, a record number of companies and individuals have made it to the finalist stage. They were selected after a “rigorous” evaluation process, involving 13 judges representing various sectors of the maritime industry.

Mersey Maritime will launch its industry voting platform on Monday, October 2. This platform will provide local, national, and international industry members with the opportunity to cast their votes for the eventual winners.

Ruth Wood, interim chief executive, Mersey Maritime, said: “This year’s entries have set a new standard. Our judges faced the tough task of selecting the finalists who will now proceed to the industry-wide vote.

“Every entrant can take pride in their work, as the depth of activity across our sector is vast, with significant growth, innovation and impact to our coastal community being demonstrated.

“I would like to thank our panel of expert judges and our generous sponsors, whose support makes this high-profile showcase of the Mersey Maritime industry possible. Congratulations to all the finalists, and we wish you the best of luck.”
