Merseyrail signs up as headline sponsor of first LCR Pride Awards

Taking place at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool city centre this month the awards will shine the spotlight on those working to make the Liverpool city region the most LGBT+ friendly in the UK

Train operator Merseyrail has signed up as the headline sponsor of the first ever LCR Pride Awards this month.

Taking place at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool city centre on Thursday, September 26, the awards will shine the spotlight on those working to make the Liverpool city region the most LGBT+ friendly in the UK.

The12 categories include LGBT+ Friendly Business of the Year sponsored by Westminster Associates, Business Person of the Year sponsored by Morecrofts Solicitors and LGBT+ Community Group, also sponsored by Merseyrail.

Each category will celebrate the bravest, brightest and best of the region’s LGBT+ community and its allies, from grassroots campaigners and local performers, to businesses and organisations undertaking wider national work.

Merseyrail actively supports the work of the LCR Pride Foundation, working with youth groups, taking part in the Pride in Liverpool ‘March with Pride’ for the first time and championing equality and diversity in all that it does, whether concerning its staff, customers or anyone in its wider community.

Jane English, HR director at Merseyrail, said: “Here at Merseyrail we are committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity amongst our workforce and beyond.  Through our partnership with the LCR Pride Foundation we have taken part in a number of initiatives and will be setting up our own group internally focused on working together with the LGBTQ+ community.
