Merseyside residents are joining up to combine their bargaining power and negotiate the cheapest energy tariff in the UK from Energy companies, in this pioneering regional scheme.

By using collective switching, Merseyside customers can make their demands more effectively with energy suppliers and save money on their energy bills. “Collective switching” occurs when a large group of consumers get together and use their collective buying power to get a better deal from energy suppliers. The more people who are involved in a switch, the bigger the buying power and the better the deal is likely to be.

Many people feel that they are paying over the odds for their energy tariff, with the rising prices on fuel and electricity becoming a real concern as the country heads into the winter months. The aim of the Merseyside Collective Switch is to reduce energy bills simply by uniting demand.

The Merseyside Collective Switch switching partner is energyhelpline, and the group operates as a not-for-profit partnership between Energy Projects Plus, Halton Council, Knowsley Council, Liverpool City Council, Sefton Council, St Helens Council and Wirral Council.

The collective is straightforward to join and local residents saved an average of £212 per year in the last Merseyside Collective Switch.

Currently, E.on are offering the cheapest tariff on the market for both Monthly Direct Debit and Payment on Receipt of Bill customers, and this offer is only available only through the collective switch. The offers tariffs are both fixed, protecting customers from any price rises until September 2015.

The two winning tariffs are exclusive to the collective switch and are only available until midnight on Monday 22nd September.
