Merseyside Young Professionals raise £5,800 for R charity
Merseyside Young Professionals (MYP) raised almost £6,000 for the Royal Liverpool University’s Hospital’s R charity at its recent charity ball.
The money raised at the event, which was sponsored by Quilter Cheviot, will go towards a specialist teenage and young adult cancer unit at the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
The unit will offer specialist care to people aged 16 to 24 who have been diagnosed with cancer. The donations of those who attended the MYP charity ball will help to furnish the 10 single en-suite bedrooms the ward will provide.
Jennifer Christian of Quilter Cheviot, also an MYP committee member said:
“It was a great event and we are so pleased with the amount raised for R charity. The plans for the new hospital will be so beneficial to its patients and Quilter Cheviot is proud to support this project.
“As a member of MYP and proud supporter of the charity ball, it was an honour to visit the hospital and see some of the equipment that the money will go towards.”
Loren Slade at R Charity said:
“It was a privilege to be MYPs charity partner this year, the ball was a huge success and it’s great to see how much has been raised. With the opening of the unit just three years away, we are aiming to raise enough funds to help equip this facility which will make a huge difference to our youngest patients in the future.”
