Morecrofts announces categories for Merseyside Independent Business Awards

Merseyside law firm Morecrofts has launched its 2015 search for the region’s most successful, creative and innovative independent businesses.

The Merseyside Independent Business (MIB) Awards, now in their third year, were created to recognise the region’s independent business sector and to commemorate Morecrofts’ 200th anniversary in 2013.

The 12 categories include Independent Retailer, Best Start-Up, Community Project and the prestigious Independent Business of the Year, as well as two new awards – Independent Place to Stay and Trades Business.

The awards will culminate with a glittering black tie dinner, hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside stalwart Roger Phillips and his daughter, Juice FM and Bay TV presenter Ellie Phillips, at Liverpool’s Rum Warehouse on 1st October.

Alison Lobb, managing partner of Morecrofts said:

“The Merseyside Independent Business Awards were created to recognise and celebrate the region’s best owner managed businesses and we’re delighted it’s now in its third year. Last year saw 150 submissions and we’re expecting even more with the creation of new categories this year. It really does keep getting bigger and better.

“Liverpool’s independent business sector is booming and it’s important that the categories keep evolving to reflect the breadth of businesses here.  The inclusion of Independent Place to Stay sees us better represent the growing tourism economy with a category dedicated to accommodation and trades business means we give the plethora of tradespeople a chance to stand-out too.”

An impressive collection of the city’s finest business leaders including Gary Millar (ex Lord Mayor of Liverpool and founder of Parr Street Studios), Jenny Stewart (chief executive Liverpool Chamber) and Max Steinberg (chief executive of Liverpool Vision) will judge the winners.

Last year’s winners included Matta’s International Foods, Cyber Host Pro, Revolver Retail, Mere Brook House Hotel and Maghull Coaches.

Merseyside businesses have until 14th August to make their submissions.
