Commercial property consultancy Avison Young and accountancy firm DSG have announced a new hire and a promotion.

Avison Young, whose Liverpool office is at No 4 St Paul’s Square, has appointed Emma Berry as director and head of property management North West. Emma joins from MAPP, prior to which she worked with CBRE and spent a large portion of her career at Bruntwood.

Avison Young manages properties in various asset classes and sectors, including offices, retail, leisure, industrial and mixed-use schemes, on behalf of clients such as Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Moorfield, Liverpool City Council, Ares and West Bromwich Building Society.

Emma said: “It is a truly exciting time to be joining Avison Young given its proven capability, but also its ambitious growth plans and relatively new position in the UK market.

“Avison Young takes a holistic approach to the ‘softer’ elements of the workplace and real estate, such as communication, environment, wellbeing and social impact, which aligns with my own values.”

Murray McLean has been promoted to tax director at Liverpool accountancy firm DSG, following the recent transfer of Mazars’ Liverpool audit practice. He will be working alongside Mark Kearsley, also recently appointed tax director, and the DSG partners Jean Ellis, Tony Bayliss, Andrew Moss and Iain White.

Murray trained with Big 4 firm Arthur Young before moving to a large local firm. Spending 13 years there and reaching the position of tax associate, he was responsible for delivering their tax service alongside the tax partner.

He then joined a small local firm, becoming tax partner within 18 months, a position he held for 13 years, before joining the DSG tax team. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted at the promotion. I look forward to working alongside the existing DSG tax management team to enhance our already excellent tax service delivery to clients.”
