A new performing arts centre of excellence will open in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle this autumn.
Known as Liverpool Central Studios, the Sefton Street facility will become the new home of Liverpool Theatre School and Studio 76 College and Academy when it opens in September.
Located at the former Alima Centre, it will feature five dance studios, two acting studios and three singing studios, two of which will be dedicated to one-to-one voice coaching, and it will have the capacity for 100 students.
Students will be offered full-time professional training in musical theatre and acting, accredited by Trinity College London and BTEC training in performing arts, dance and musical theatre. There will also be weekend classes for budding young performers between the ages of 4-16.
Maxine Ellis, principal at Liverpool Theatre School and Studio 76, said: “I have long had the ambition to bring Liverpool Theatre School and Studio 76 College and Academy together to create a real hub for performing arts training in the city and I have been on the hunt for the perfect venue for some time.
“I am thrilled to have acquired the building on the Sefton Street corridor, which will allow students to access professional training across the different disciplines of musical theatre, acting and dance in one central space.”
Liverpool Theatre School and Studio 76 graduates are currently appearing in hit shows such as The Sound of Music, Starlight Express, Dreamboats and Petticoats, Blood Brothers and Wicked.
