Job vacancies in Liverpool were up 19.6% in May with average salaries also rising, according to new data.

The change from the previous month was also above the national average of 17.7%, figures from in independent job site CV-Library found

Liverpool came seventh in the top ten cities for vacancies growth during the month. Brighton was top with 23.3% followed by Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Newcastle.

Liverpool was ahead of Glasgow Bristol and Manchester in the top 10.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “It’s great to see business confidence is remaining strong, with job vacancies increasing in Liverpool.

“Summer is just around the corner and there are plenty of opportunities out there for keen job hunters in the city, with an increasing number of roles available.”

The study also showed that average salaries across the UK were 3.9% in May compared to  April, with Liverpool seeing a 3.5% increase over the same time period.

The city also experienced a strong year-on-year growth in job applications, with Liverpool experiencing a 7.5% increase over the period.

Mr Biggins added: “There have been many promises to build a stronger job market in light of the upcoming election and it’s great to see that businesses in the city are not slowing down, as they push harder to entice talented candidates into their organisations.”
