An exhibition showcasing the work of local photographers in Liverpool’s commercial district has opened at Our Lady and Saint Nicholas Church (St Nick’s).
Liverpool BID Company launched the ‘ThIS Commercial District in Focus’ photography competition in September, inviting people who live and work in the commercial district to capture nature and the built environment, architecture and street scenes from around the area.
A collection of the most outstanding images is now available to view at the exhibition until Friday, November 25, at St Nick’s, at the bottom of Chapel Street opposite Mercure Atlantic Tower Hotel.
Throughout the exhibition, members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite photographs with the ‘people’s choice’ winner announced on the last day.
Winners of first, second and third place have been chosen by the judging panel which includes Fr. David Baverstock from Our Lady and St Nicholas Church, Lucy Byrne from dot-art, Arthur Gold, freelance photographer and Nathan Marsh from the Liverpool BID Company.
Bill Addy, chief executive of the Liverpool BID Company, said: “We were overwhelmed with the quality and diversity of the photography submitted as part of the competition.
“Liverpool’s commercial district is a bustling area mixed with work spaces, homes, bars and restaurants and much more. With so much going on it can be easy to take the day-to-day surroundings for granted.
“The exhibition has captured all this and shown the district in a whole new light. I’d urge everyone to come along and see for themselves.”
