Five pianos will be placed around Liverpool ONE this summer with the return of its popular Tickle the Ivories. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool ONE says its popular Tickle the Ivories will return for the summer this week.
This will see five pianos placed around the retail and leisure venue from Friday, July 7, allowing people to just sit down and start playing. First launched 13 years ago Tickle the Ivories has become a firm favourite with visitors.
Free-to-use pianos will be located at the bottom of Sugar House Steps by John Lewis & Partners, South John Street, Peter’s Square, College Lane and The Galleria by the entrance of ODEON. They will be available to use until September 10.
Also returning this year as part of Liverpool ONE’s summer programme of entertainment is ChessFest, which will take place on Sunday, July 16.
Part of Chess in Schools and Communities national programme, the event will bring free activities for all the family at Chavasse Park to bring chess to a wider audience and showcase its inclusivity.
To be arranged for later in the summer is Sketching Day, giving artists, both professional and amateurs the chance to join in at the free outdoor sketching and painting takeover working with Liver Sketching Club.
Another return is the First Five Festival which will take over Chavasse Park for one day in August. This is an opportunity for families with little ones to have a fun day while exploring services available in their area.
For the first time, Liverpool ONE has partnered with travel agent Kuoni to mark its new store opening on Paradise Street, offering the chance to win a holiday to the Maldives.
The competition, which officially launched on July 3, will see one lucky winner scoop a sunshine break for two to the award-winning Kurumba Maldives suitable for guests of all ages.
