Redrow will build 318 new houses and apartments just outside Liverpool in a multi-million pound scheme.

Knowsley council planners have given the green light to the householder for the project on a plot of land at Hilton Grange in Halewood. Redrow had already secured outline consent for ‘The Finches’ in 2021.

To be built on land to the south of the railway line bounded by Lower Road, Finch Lane and Baileys Lane, the scheme will see a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom family homes.

It will also feature 131 affordable properties, comprising a mix of 57 one-bedroom apartments, 44 two-bedroom homes and 30 three-bedroom homes. Affordable is classed as no more than 80% of local market rent or sale price.

Gardens and parking with landscaping and the planting of trees will also feature as part of the project. Residents have already started to move into the Redrow homes approved under the first phase of development.

Onsite building work is due to start on this phase as soon as all pre-commencement conditions are discharged, creating several new construction jobs.

Imogen Zulver, senior planner at the Manchester office of Lichfields, who secured reserved matters approval from Knowsley Council, said new homes are needed urgently across the North West.

She added: “We are working with property developers and local planning authorities to ensure schemes like this one are both viable and a welcome addition to local areas, contributing towards providing high quality homes for local people.

“The Finches is set to be a terrific development, creating a sustainable residential neighbourhood with good access to local amenities and services.

“It will undoubtedly contribute positively to this suburb of Halewood and we now look forward to work on the project getting started.”
