Liverpool city region insurance firm Acorn Group is reporting big rises in annual revenues and pre-tax profits as it gets set to invest £10m to move from Formby to the Royal Albert Dock.
Acorn is currently based at The Lighthouse in Formby and it also has offices in Manchester, Birmingham and London. In 2025 it acquired the 81,000 sq ft Grade I-listed Atlantic Pavilion in the iconic Royal Albert Dock on Liverpool waterfront.
In May LBN reported how the business, which also has offices in Manchester, Birmingham and London, was to invest £10m into Atlantic Pavilion to transform the building into its main operations hub.
And in accounts posted on Companies House, covering the 12 months to December 31, 2025, Acorn is reporting a 55% rise in revenue to £177.8m. And the firm has more than doubled its pre-tax profits to £60.5m and handed shareholders a dividend windfall of £43m.
Writing in the annual report, chief executive Mike Lloyd said the business, which offers home, car, taxi, van fleet and motor trade insurance, “continues to differentiate itself from the mainstream insurance markets”.
He added the comply had benefited from the “loyalty of its customer base with strong renewal retention across all of our main product lines which has assisted the growth of the group overall”.
“While markets remain competitive we do expect to continue to expand the business substantially going forward,” he said.

According to the accounts Acorn employed almost 1,800 people in 2025, a big increase on the 1,442 employed in 2024. In 2025 it launched a new strategy focusing on a “one size does not fit all” approach, investing in the latest tech and on its culture and “what makes us, us”.
Acorn has submitted a proposal to Liverpool City Council to carry out works to Atlantic Pavilion. It has employed heritage specialist Donald Insall Associates and ADT Workplace to deliver the project.

From early 2027 it plans to move between 600 and 700 staff into the building. It intends to sub-let space to existing tenants at the site.
Daniel Keating, Acorn Group chief operating officer, told Place North West in May: “As a major employer in the region, it’s vital to provide exceptional office space that supports our people while continuing our strong commitment to this great city we call home.”
