Wirral property business Starship has unveiled Simon Humphreys as its new director of regeneration and place.

Simon spent a large part of his career as development director at Urban Splash, joining the business in 1995. He played a leading role in the design and delivery of Liverpool projects including Ropewalks, Matchworks and New Islington.

Starship was formed following the acquisition and merger of several existing property development and construction businesses. It is backed by a private investment fund and has delivered more than £75m of residential projects across the UK.

It has a further £30m of schemes under way with another £100m of projects in the pipeline. The firm is at the forefront of the modern methods of construction revolution in UK housebuilding.

In 2021 it completed four factory-built modular homes in New Ferry in Wirral. These zero-carbon properties have now been handed over to housing association Magenta Living. The business has delivered 50 modular homes so far this year.

Simon will head up Starship’s new urban regeneration team. This team will drive forward “place-led” developments and deliver a range of regeneration projects across the North West.

He said: “I’m so excited to be joining such a bright and passionate team. I’ll be dedicating my energy and experience, together with the broad range of skills already in the business, to create truly regenerative places and sustainable homes and neighbourhoods with our customers at the heart of everything.”

Starship has recently taken residence at the new Hythe office building in Wirral Waters. Managing director Dave Dargan added: “We are really delighted to announce that Simon has joined the Starship team. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion in regeneration and place-making.

“This is such an exciting time for everyone involved with Starship and having another high-profile addition to our team underpins our commitment to being one of the most innovative, active and place led developers around.”
