Puffle Waffle brings a taste of Hong Kong street food to Liverpool’s Albert Dock
Puffle Waffle, which opens this Saturday, will sell a variant of a popular Hong Kong food-to-go – egg waffle cones filled with a variety of homemade flavours. Tony McDonough reports
A new independent family business with a Hong Kong street food concept is to open its first store at Albert Dock Liverpool this weekend.
Puffle Waffle will sell a variant of a popular Hong Kong food-to-go – egg waffle cones filled with a variety of homemade flavours.
The brainchild of Liverpool entrepreneur and managing director, Kenneth Cheung, Puffle Waffle will be located in the 152 sq ft former TIC building in Anchor Courtyard, close to the Beatles Story and Magical Mystery Tour.
The café is the latest independent to set up shop at Albert Dock, following businesses such as Leather Satchel Co and more recently, Dock Art.
It is all part of the strategic reinvention of the retail and leisure offer of Albert Dock, led by the developer, Aberdeen Asset Management, with more landmark lettings on the cusp of being announced.
Kenneth said: “To secure a location at Albert Dock is quite the dream.
“As a child growing up in Hong Kong, this was the everyday street food of choice – and it continues to be the top-selling street food there to this day.
“We are also unique in the fact that we use an age-old, traditional recipe that was created by my late grandfather, who was a successful restauranteur in Hong Kong for most of his life.
“This, combined with our unusual flavourings, makes for a unique culinary experience to suit all palates.”
Puffle Waffle will open on Saturday, October 21, with a special buy one get one free offer for every customer and a friend (who must be present), running throughout the October half term until Saturday, October 28.
