West Wirral Business Network (WWBN) has attracted 280 members less than a year after launching.

Started by local entrepreneurs Lynne Gregory and David Edwards in April 2018, the group started life as West Kirby Business Network and, within a week of its launch, had already attracted more than 90 members.

They wanted to “bring a sense of community” into networking and move away from the “fist-pumping’ atmosphere of many other groups, promoting more laid-back events. The first session took place on May 2 last year and this month will see the 12th meet-up.

Lynne, who runs web design and digital consultancy business Stripe Visual Studio, and David, a commercial photographer and brand designer who runs Edwards Bonding Solutions, say the key aims of WWBN are:

  • To bring together the vast business and creative talent that exists in the area with the hope that like-minded people, who run businesses, can hopefully work together.
  • Build an interaction between business and the community under the banner ‘Our Wirral – Enjoy Local, Support Local’.

They said: “Growing the community has always been a priority. In order for the community to grow a subscription service has officially been launched today to enable businesses to place themselves in a searchable online directory.

“This business directory will not only be available to members of the business community but also to the local community who will be able to access and search it to find local providers of the products/services they need, as well as the special offers and events sections.”

To celebrate the launch of the directory there is a discount on the annual subscription available for the first 50 businesses to subscribe.
